Macro Core 5 (MC5) – Soil Sampling Systems for the Drilling Contractor
Geoprobe has developed a soil sampling system that can allow for either continuous soil sampling or discrete soil sample with tremendous efficiency. The Macro Core MC5 Sampling System has proven to environmental and geotechnical drilling contractors and consultants to be the most efficient means for direct push sampling. We at North Drilling trust the MC5 system as our workhorse for obtaining the field data our client needs.
Some of the advantages of the MC5 system are 1) soil sampling speed 2) robust tooling that has a long life expectancy and 3) provides the ability to obtain high quality and representative soil data. As a drilling contractor in Northern Ontario we depend on equipment that will uphold to the tough conditions and work to provide our clients with the information the need.
The MC5 Soil Sampling System is a single tube, discrete or continuous system with unmatched durability. The MC5 1.25 in. Center Rod System was designed for the absolute worst of the worst direct push probing conditions. A link to the tooling design can be found here.
Coupled with Light Weight Centre Rods, discrete soil sampling got faster and easier! Times have changed since the first Macro Core tooling was developed in 1994. Machines are larger, hammers are more powerful, and drilling contractors push tool strings deeper into the subsurface. The formula to meet these demands began with Geoprobe designing a larger MC Sample Tube (increased the OD from 2.125 in. to 2.25 in.) which led to beefing up the thread design. These improvements to the already robust Macro Core sampler make a great product perform even better in the field and are trusted to drill into the toughest geology Northern Ontario can throw at us.
